One Savior

I realize this is obvious, but sometimes we can know certain truths without realizing certain truths. I have come to realize through time in prayer, that we only have one Savior. “Who have we in heaven but you oh God”?  When I pray in hope, I am not praying to a host of gods, hoping that one of them will take notice, but I am praying to the one and only God.  If the true God ignores me where can I go?  If he is not full of love and compassion, what will become of all of us?  We are at his mercy.  Jesus asked his disciples if they were going to abandon him, and their response was, “To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life?”  God is the source of hope in times of trouble, the Shepherd who leads us beside still waters and restores our souls.  This is the God I pray to, that I am hoping in.  This is the God who did not spare his own Son, but with him will give us freely all things in Christ.

His cross is the sign of his kept promise. It blazes in the darkness for hope in his love and fidelity.  If I am facing the impossible, God hold the cross before me to remind me of your unfailing love, of your truth, and grace to sinners. All other faiths are deserts in darkness. Where is the love of God demonstrated in Islam, where is the love of God demonstrated Buddhism, Hinduism, or any other faith for that matter.  The cross is the lighthouse of mankind; it guides us through the maze of false deities, and reckless false prophets.  I see the cross and I see the God who holds nothing back, who enjoins himself to the suffering of his creation with the true lover’s act of complete self sacrifice. I could not perceive of any other way that God could so perfectly demonstrate his character than he did in the life, death, burial, and resurrection of the Son.
